What are the responsibilities and job description for the Panel Assembler I position at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories?

As a Panel Assembler at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) you will be working in a fast paced and ever changing high tech environment. If you have demonstrated successful experience in manual dexterity, the ability to multi-task, and possess process improvement skills, we invite you to consider joining our innovative team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Model SEL values.
2. Assemble and lead others in assembling SEL's high-tech products to corporate quality standards.
3. Exceed department's quality and efficiency goals in assigned areas of responsibilities for the last 12 months.
4. Train employees on equipment and processes.
5. Actively participate in the department cross-training program.
6. Create/edit work instructions.
7. Assist with troubleshooting problems with boards or product builds in assigned area.
8. Assist with coordinating the successful implementation of pilots, prototypes, ECO changes, red lights, and stop shipments.
9. Continuously identify, measure, and improve Manufacturing processes by leading and participating in process improvement teams.
10. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
10. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
11. Understand. Create. Simplify.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Progressively responsible experience as an assembler
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Demonstrated ability to model SEL values
Electronic/mechanical assembly experience and/or skills
Knowledge of manufacturing processes in assigned area
Basic knowledge of department's production business systems (SQS, Lotus Notes, Dataflo, etc.)
Reading and math skills
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Manual dexterity and ability to concentrate
Ability to work overtime, as required
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)

Physical Requirements
Lift, push, pull and maneuver up to 40 pounds frequently
Sit and/or stand at least 8 hours
Vision correctable to 20/30 or better

Fine finger dexterity sufficient to handle and place parts with precision and accuracy for at least 8 hours
