Lab Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced person for a Sr / Manager of Laboratory Operations. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, be able to balance multiple priorities, and feel comfortable working independently to support the needs of the scientists.

Responsibilities

• Contributing and collaborating with a team of scientists and managers by managing day-to-day operations of a first-class laboratory.
• Helping to streamline processes and set-up systems that keep a fast-growing company operating efficiently.
• Managing general and function specific consumables inventory; including ordering and restocking supplies and determining re-order thresholds
• Managing lab equipment; including service contracts, preventative maintenance, calibration scheduling and regular cleaning of incubators, biosafety cabinets, water baths, and other equipment
• Assisting to manage construction projects as needed
• Overseeing lab safety and regulatory compliance, including tracking of chemicals and hazardous materials and enforcing PPE policy and lab safety rules
• Coordinating deliveries inside and out of labs; including liquid nitrogen, CO2 deliveries, and biohazard waste removal, sharps removal, satellite waste removal
• Serving as the site and facilities point of contact
• Coordinating shipping and receiving; including unpacking and storing received orders, logging packing slips into the system and resolving backordered/missing supplies
• Managing office and site needs; teambuilding activities, lunches, other tasks as needed
• Ability to manage priorities and function independently in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment
• Helping to build our laboratory efforts by maintaining and creating a productive, fun and exciting environment.
• Becoming a valuable contributor to other initiatives as they arise in our fast paced, startup environment.
  
  

Required Skills

• B.S., M.S. Biology or Business Administration
• Minimum five years' experience in operations and/or business management of a drug discovery company.
• Previous laboratory experience preferred.
• Good communications skills, both oral and written.
• Experience working independently, but within a collaborative team-centric environment.
• A highly engaged, self-starter who is creative, innovative, communicative and possesses both a collaborative and goal/results-orientated style
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, while employing tact, patience, diplomacy and a collaborative spirit
• Outstanding decision making, organizational and analytical skills
