What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receptionist position at Science History Institute?
The Science History Institute is seeking a part-time Front Desk Receptionist (28–34 hours per week). The Front Desk Receptionist will work a Wednesday–Saturday, 9am–5pm schedule, with occasional evenings or early mornings. The Receptionist will be responsible for providing a polished and professional presence for employees and visitors to the museum, library, and conference center. They will also manage gift shop transactions. This position offers full medical and dental benefits, participation in a retirement savings plan, employer-provided subsidy, and secure on-site parking. This position requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of two years of experience in the administrative or hospitality field
- Experience answering and transferring multiple phone lines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact well with different audiences

The starting hourly salary for this position is $17.00. Salary offer may be higher based on candidate’s experience.
