This Salesforce Administrator is central to advancing the Science Museum of Minnesota’s mission to “turn on the science” by empowering teams with robust, data-driven tools and processes. The Salesforce Administrator ensures seamless operation and strategic utilization of Salesforce and its integration with ticket sales, membership, retail, and other transactional platforms. This role supports the museum’s strategic goals to grow contributed, and fee-based revenue, enhance member and visitor engagement, and deliver meaningful science education experiences.

As the primary system administrator for both Salesforce and the ticketing/membership technical platform, the role serves as a critical bridge across departments, optimizing technology solutions to support education, collaboration, and equitable access to science. By aligning CRM tools with the museum’s mission, vision, and values, this position ensures data is leveraged to inspire learning, improve lives, and support collective liberation.

 

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to: 

Salesforce Administration

Manage and maintain the Salesforce NonProfit Cloud environment, ensuring system performance, data integrity, and user satisfaction.

Configure and optimize Salesforce functionalities, including workflows, process builders, dashboards, and reports.

Manage user access, roles, profiles, and permissions.

Oversee the integration of third-party applications and tools with Salesforce.

Perform regular system audits and data quality checks, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

Collaborate with departments to gather and translate business needs into Salesforce solutions.

Data Management and Analysis

Serve as a point person for organizational data strategy within Salesforce, ensuring accurate data capture and reporting.

Build and maintain dashboards and custom reports to support fundraising, membership, B2B sales, and program initiatives.

Extract, clean, and analyze data for decision-making purposes across teams.

Work closely with BI tools (Sigma, Google Sheets) to enhance data visualization and reporting.

Training and Support

Train and onboard staff on Salesforce functionalities and best practices.

Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for Salesforce users.

Develop and maintain user documentation, including guides and FAQs.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure successful project execution.

Work with external vendors, consultants, or Salesforce support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: No formal education is required

Required experience and proficiencies:

Knowledge:

Solid understanding of Salesforce NonProfit Cloud functionalities and features.

Familiarity with data management principles, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and relational databases and warehouses (BigQuery)

Knowledge of nonprofit operations, particularly fundraising, membership, and program management workflows.

Awareness of BI tools (e.g., Sigma) and data visualization best practices.

 

Skills

Proficient in Salesforce configuration (Flows, DLRS, process automation, custom objects, etc.).

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and provide actionable insights.

Effective communication and presentation skills, especially in explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Advanced skills in spreadsheet software or equivalent data manipulation tools.

Skilled in documentation and process improvement.

 

Abilities

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Salesforce system issues independently.

Capacity to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to think strategically about data and its role in achieving organizational goals.

Capability to foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.

 

Certifications:  Certifications in Salesforce Administration and/or Business intelligence systems are preferred, but not required.

Work Environment: Hybrid work environment, where some regular on-site work is required. Occasional travel off-site to facilitate the installation and/or maintenance of technology components.

The starting range for this position is $33.75-$35.44/hour
