Job Description
The Candidate shall primarily provide support to ATC at Aberdeen Proving Ground for the paint removal, painting and signage services. Support in this area will include numerous tasks which are dissimilar in nature but have in common prepping for coating and applying finish coatings to metallic and non- metallic material or components per blueprints in accordance with assigned specifications. Paint shop personnel shall perform inspections, assist in painting, provide estimates, and determine the steps and materials required to complete the project using standard trade practices. The candidate shall coat surfaces or motor vehicles such as military vehicles and equipment, automobiles, buses and trucks with paint, varnish, lacquer, shellac, epoxy, resin, Teflon or other material on wood, metal, glass, synthetics, concrete and other surfaces using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices. Prepping surfaces for coating and powder coating using blasting and sanding to remove corrosion and other contaminants. Remove old paint from vehicle, using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smooth surface with sandpaper and steel wool. Roughen aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure the paint adheres to surfaces. Mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted. Paint vehicle or specified portion of vehicle. May paint insignia's, letters and numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils. Determine layout, balance, spacing and colors, and identify and correct defects before release. Painter duties require the operation of Government vehicles and Materials Handling Equipment (MHE). Candidate will perform all essential duties and responsibilities at the direction of the site Program Manager and Paint Leader, as appropriate. The Employee shall be required to comply with Shop policy concerning regular Work area cleanliness and weekly cleanups to include emptying trash from office / shop trash can to dumpsters and providing snow and ice removal from sidewalk at Government shared facilities in and around Building 525. Care for and control of all tools issued for use in support of the contract, ensuing they are maintained in serviceable condition, used properly, identify for replacement when necessary, and controlled against unauthorized use, loss or theft.
The Employee will report all time worked accurately and in accordance with contract requirements and company policy.
- The Aberdeen Test Center performs tests which may involve hazards as identified above. Employment with STC at Aberdeen Proving Ground may involve at times working closely to hazardous conditions. When this occurs the hazards and the preventive measures (i.e. Personal Protective Equipment, procedures, etc.) will be identified and must be followed to reduce the risk of the hazard to the Employee's safety and health. Hazardous conditions are not a daily occurrence, however, when they exist all efforts will be taken to insure Employee safety and health.
Job Requirements
Candidate shall have two years minimum experience or completion of formal training in lead paint abatement.
