Technical Writer I
to support research and development activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn with talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and innovative new programs supporting our growing customer base. Our small group will allow the candidate to experience, contribute, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary nature from conception all the way through to operation.Candidates must be strong team participants, have excellent communication skills, be resourceful and creative, and willing to contribute to a multidisciplinary and fast-paced engineering environment.Core Responsibilities : Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other contributing authors and technical personnel (engineers and program leads)Create physical media for distribution, such as printed and bound workbooks, 3-ring binders, flyers, memos, brochures and other marketing materialInterview production and engineering personnel and review historical reports to become familiar with product technologies and production methodsMeet with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific new products or processesOrganize technical content to create narratives that convey information to a wide variety of potential audiences, including both highly technical and non-technical review entitiesReview writing assignments and create information exchange standards regarding proper order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminologyObserve production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detailPrepare and deliver training information for a wide range of applicationsAssist in developing control procedures for in-house documentationCopy-edit technical contributions, technical reports, test plans, procedures, and other writing submittalsCreate and maintain organization of writing assignment matrix and ensure that contract deliverable data requirements are submitted in accordance with the customers requested electronic and hard copy formats

Requirements : Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing, or related fieldOne to three years of related experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent use of grammarA working understanding of basic physics and engineering conceptsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailUS Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret security clearanceMay require light physical effort, involving standing, sitting, and carrying or lifting up to 15 poundsWorking environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated
