Lab Technician (Cell Culturing)
Location: Torrance, CA
This role will start as a contract to permanent position.
The Lab Technician (Cell Culturing) is responsible for performing routine analyses and tests. Work requires basic use of scientific methods, procedures and techniques gained through previous training and experience. You will use basic understanding of theory behind experiments and apply basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects, and to identify and troubleshoot situations needing special attention.

The Lab Technician (Cell Culturing) is responsible for performing routine analyses and tests. Work requires basic use of scientific methods, procedures and techniques gained through previous training and experience. You will use basic understanding of theory behind experiments and apply basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects, and to identify and troubleshoot situations needing special attention.
Responsibilities
- Follow established procedures or protocols and utilize aseptic technique to perform experiments. These may require basic tissue culture, cell separation methods, and laboratory methods/techniques associated with protein, or carbohydrate biochemistry and analytical methods (e.g. purifications, quantitative and qualitative analyses, localizations as well as other assays).
- Operates basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, pH meter, analytical balance, scintillation counter, spectrophotometer, light microscope, and sophisticated instrumentation such as robotic system, fluorescence or luminescence spectrophotometer.
- Perform specific analyses using standard techniques.
- Operate lab computers for data entry.
- Maintain and adjust equipment, e.g. calibrating, alignment.
- Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, order materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Comply with biohazard/radiation safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace.
- Perform general laboratory cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance.
- BS/BA or MS/MA or equivalent, in biological sciences or chemistry
- Four or more years of post-undergraduate research experience in a laboratory setting, or a significant independent research project, not related to normal course requirements
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
