Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced Major Gifts Officer on behalf of our esteemed nonprofit client! This pivotal role is essential in expanding donor support, strengthening philanthropic relationships, and advancing our client's highly impactful mission. This full-time, exempt position is based in Houston, TX, and is available for immediate hire!
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Development, the Major Gifts Officer will manage a robust portfolio of high-level donors, lead major giving initiatives, and play a strategic role in planned giving campaigns. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a portfolio of 100 major gift prospects, focusing on donors with an annual giving capacity of $10,000 and above.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors through personalized engagement strategies.
- Develop tailored donor strategies and maintain comprehensive records of donor interactions using Salesforce.
- Design and implement solicitation strategies to support annual fund goals and planned giving campaigns, ensuring alignment with broader fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Director of Development and CEO, to support high-level donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
- Track fundraising progress, including gifts, pledges, and donor engagement metrics, reporting regularly to the Assistant Director of Development.
- Partner with the development team to identify prospective donors and create donor profiles, leveraging data-driven insights to refine outreach strategies.
- Oversee donor recognition initiatives, ensuring thoughtful acknowledgment across all communication channels.
PLANNED GIVING:
- Collaborate with leadership and external partners to develop and implement a comprehensive planned giving strategy.
- Establish tracking methodologies for planned giving commitments within Salesforce in partnership with the Data Analyst.
- Create and manage planned giving marketing materials, both print and digital, to support outreach and stewardship efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of proven success managing high-level donor relationships, with a track record of securing gifts of $10,000 and above.
- Experience drafting and finalizing gift agreements with donors.
- Strong adherence to ethical fundraising standards, including AFP’s Donor Bill of Rights and Fundraisers’ Code of Ethical Standards.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Salesforce (a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: This role offers a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
