Job Summary

  • As a Barista you’ll be the face of our café and deliver on our mission of providing a safe and welcoming third place for anyone who walks through our door.

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, adhering to company standards
  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, coffee brewers, and other equipment safely
  • Provide high-end customer service with kindness, respect, and empathy at the forefront of all interactions
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including café seating and equipment
  • Restock supplies and ingredients
  • Handle transactions accurately and honestly with our POS system
  • Have a team-oriented attitude and willingness to step in to help one another when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Lead Duties:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, adhering to company and food safety standards
  • Operate espresso machines, grinders, coffee brewers, and other equipment safely and responsibly
  • Provide high-end customer service with kindness, respect, and empathy at the forefront of all interaction
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including café seating and equipment
  • Restock supplies and ingredients
  • Handle transactions accurately and honestly with our POS system
  • Have a team-oriented attitude and willingness to step in to help one another when needed
  • Assist with the receiving, rotating, and inventory of stock
  • Override transactions as needed, and handle customer complaints and concerns when needed
  • Count money and ensure it is recorded accurately and placed in the office safe properly
  • Ensure tips are collected and placed in the office safe daily for recording and disbursement weekly
  • Open and close the store, and ensure all doors and windows are locked upon arrival and departure
  • Ensure and enforce food safety policies, attendance policies, and other company policies as needed
  • Assist in marketing and product resets for sales, seasonal promotions, and events.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a barista or bartender is preferred, but not required
  • A food service background is preferred
  • Must have a passion for coffee, and a desire to learn about brewing techniques and specialty beverages
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and multi-task effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality over everything
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
