Production Crew Member:
Scioto Gardens is seeking a Production Crew Member to join our team. Production Crew Members are responsible for the production and upkeep of our high-quality plants. They must demonstrate the ability to learn different plant species, follow instructions, and ensure quality control. The general job duties and responsibilities are outlined below.
Daily Tasks:
- Pot propagated, plug, and bare-root plants
- Transport and arrange finished plants on-site
- Prune and/or stake plants for optimal growth
- Water plants accordingly for optimal soil moisture
- Apply fertilizer and other plant treatments as directed
- Maintain production areas, including mulching and weeding
- Operate a small tractor to transport plants and other materials
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Production Manager with all stages of the production process
- Monitor plants for disease, pest damage, etc., and notify the Production Manager
- Follow instructions and grow in competence and expertise
- Demonstrate a desire to learn more about native plants and industry best practices
- Wear the provided uniform, gloves, appropriate footwear, and other weather-appropriate attire
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to lift and transport pots up to 20 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to lift and transport materials up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to stand for long periods of time on uneven terrain
- Ability to work outdoors, lift, twist, stand, and squat throughout the workday
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED optional
- Horticultural experience or related education is preferred, but not required
Pay: $15.50 per hour
Schedule: 4 days a week (approximately 30 hours a week), occasional weekend shifts
