Salary
- $76,068.00 annually to $130,284.00 annually (plus $3,000.00 per year stipend)
- Salary placement determined by prior work experience and/or education
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree, including all courses necessary to meet any of the credential requirements to
- receive license/credential authorizing service as a Speech Language Pathologist or Speech Therapist.
- Appropriate California credential authorizing service as a Speech Language Pathologist or Speech Therapist.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years experience in working with children as a Speech Language Pathologist or Speech Therapist or comparable position.
- Experience in a public school environment desired.
Duty Days / Hours
- 183 days per year / 184 days first full year
- Monday – Friday
- 7 hours per day
Summary of the Position
Under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, provides services to pupils with speech and / or language handicaps within the institution. Evaluates student referrals to determine eligibility for speech and /or language services and provides speech and / or language therapy as appropriate.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, provides services to pupils with speech and /or language handicaps within the institution.
- Evaluates student referrals to determine eligibility for speech and / or language services and provides speech and / or language therapy as appropriate.
- Assists / collaborates with classroom teachers in developing a program of speech and / or language.
- Maintain monthly registers of attendance and Designated Instructional Services (DIS).
- Serves on the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Team as needed for placement of students; meets with parents and / or guardians relative to the development of IEPs.
- Prepares IEPs for each student; evaluates each student’s progress and prepares an up to date report at the end of each year.
- Works in conjunction / cooperation with site / county administrators to which the therapist is assigned.
- Participate in the selection of books, instructional aides, testing materials and instructional supplies needed to implement the speech and language program.
- Maintain files, records and required assessments for each student.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Job Functions
- See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids.
- Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone.
- Sit, stand, walk, twist, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, stoop, kneel, push, pull and move, lift and/or carry 0 to 25 pounds to waist height.
Work Conditions
- Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in an office environment consisting of tables, chairs, and office equipment; come in direct contact with students, parents, institution staff and the public.
