Field Measurement Manager

The Field Measurement Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure measurement automation for Salt Creek Midstream adheres too and comply with published measurement standards. This includes accountability for metering, controls, communications, instrumentation selection and installation.

The Field Measurement Manger will interface directly with Salt Creek Midstream’s Measurement Manager on construction of new projects ensuring proper measurement is implemented at the beginning of a project so that commissioning and startup is effectively executed and is responsible for ensuring that the measurement and sampling equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with commercial agreements and industry standards. This position leads the overall measurement field operations technicians. The supervisor also leads physical investigation into any measurement issues, discrepancies, loss and unaccounted for (LAUF) volumes across Gas, NGL and crude assets.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Interface directly with and support the Manager of Controls and Measurement
  • Direct measurement technicians
  • Responsible for ensuring documentation, general upkeep and maintenance of all related facilities and equipment as required
  • Oversee construction and/or maintenance performed by third party measurement per measurement standards
  • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Identify missing or improper measurement equipment and actively work to remedy the situation.
  • Schedule specific tasks, witness of meter testing, calibration pursuant to measurement standards
  • Manage budgetary planning and expense management
  • Aid in enhancing Salt Creek Midstream’s measurement standards
  • Mentor, guide and train measurement technicians
  • Ensure adherence to Salt Creek Midstream’s measurement standards
  • Ensure that proper and timely notice of meter testing and sample pulling is provided to customers in accordance with commercial agreements. Work collaboratively with I&E Management, Operations Management and Sr. Field management

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma required
  • A BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 10 years measurement experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of, familiarity with and experience of primary, secondary and tertiary measurement systems employed for the measurement of hydrocarbons including orifice, ultrasonic, Coriolis, turbine and other applicable inferential and linear primary element measurement systems. EFM, ELM systems, secondary element systems for the measurement of pressure, temperature and density. Analytical and chromatographic systems for the measurement of fluid composition and quality.
  • Familiarity with Measurement transactional systems including FlowCal Test IT and Prove IT
  • Ability to install, inspect, test, adjust, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate advanced measurement and control systems
  • Advanced understanding of P&ID’s or other construction drawings pertaining to measurement
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work including the ability to quickly change priorities with little notice
  • Familiarity of applicable American Petroleum Institute (API), Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards (MPMS), American Gas Association (AGA), GPA Midstream standards and practices and other relevant standards and practices as may apply
  • Familiarity of Federal requirements for auditing site inspection by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products; excel, outlook, etc.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Exert up to 60 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently
  • Subject to outside environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold as most activities are performed outdoors in noisy areas that are subject to moving parts or equipment
