Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Project Estimator to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and site construction management and project management, with the ability to accurately estimate project costs and timelines. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule while maintaining high-quality standards. The Project Estimator will work closely with executives, project managers, contractors, and clients to develop comprehensive estimates that reflect the scope of work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for light to medium civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
- Analyze blueprints and specifications to determine project requirements and scope.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate project budgets and timelines.
- Utilize construction estimating software Trimble B2W for efficient estimation processes.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather information necessary for accurate estimates.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to projects.
- Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid documents and responding to inquiries from bidders.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of civil construction estimating principles and practices.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Experience with Trimble B2W (or similar software) for construction estimating.
- Excellent negotiation skills for contract discussions with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ability to analyze blueprints, specifications, and other technical documents effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in preparing estimates.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
