About Scottsdale Bible Church (SBC):
Scottsdale Bible Church’s (SBC) new Tempe Campus is underway and will be located on East Southern Ave and Loop 101. God has faithfully grown SBC from a humble beginning of 13 people in 1962 to more than 6500 meeting weekly on four campuses. With plans to start other multi-site campuses in the coming years, we continue to press forward to take the message of Jesus into our communities throughout the Valley!

As the Tempe Discovery Kids Director, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. In this role, you will report to Central Discovery Kids Pastor and are responsible for providing supervision and leadership to Discovery Kids Tempe and to help kids discover who God is and His plan for their lives.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
Cast Vision:
- Cast vision, build a team, and execute ministry in Discovery Kids grades 2-5 and oversee the PreK-1st Grade, Nursery, and DK Tempe Program Director
- Communicate and represent the vision of Discovery Kids and SBC to parents and volunteers on a regular basis
Build Teams
- Work as a collaborative and cooperative member of the Discovery Kids and Next Gen Ministry Teams
- Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and care of the volunteers and Jr. volunteers as needed for weekend services and special events and oversee the DK Tempe Program Director and volunteer team
- Develop and provide leadership to the following ministry teams: Greeter, Kids Check, Setup/Cleanup, Worship and AVL
- Responsible for the ongoing recruitment, training and appreciation of volunteers for the ministry
- Commitment to developing volunteers who move through the PEO process – Participation, Engagement, and Ownership
- Maintains updated serving teams of all your volunteers in ROCK
Execute Ministry
- Create an environment that is safe, fun and represents Jesus for all kids in your area
- Ensure that all aspects of Kids Check are ready
- Welcome and connect with all new families
- Make sure all DK ministries are fully staffed at all weekend services
- Oversee that the DK Tempe building, and all included areas are clean, stocked, and organized
- Help develop, memorize, and record the weekly video teaching for all of DK
- Edit weekly small group curriculum and distribute to volunteer leads for weekend services
- Plan a fun and engaging large group experience for weekend services. Develop volunteers to be included in its implementation, as well as oversee that the PreK-1st Grade and Nursery meet the same levels of excellence
- Supervise Tempe Discovery Kids team and provide ongoing team building and development
- Develop and monitor annual goals, objectives, and budgets
- Act as part of the Discovery Kids Central Team
- Be responsible for and participate in the planning and implementing of Discovery Kids mid-week programming and any/all Discovery Kids events
- In addition to normal work hours, you will be required to work on Sundays and occasionally Wednesday nights
As a Team Leader, you will:
- Supervise Discovery Kids Team Member(s) and provide ongoing team building and development
- Act as a servant leader by training, encouraging, coaching, and developing your Team Member(s)
- Develop and monitor annual goals, objectives, and budgets
- Foster a spirit of trust and of innovation on your team
- Meet personally in a pre-scheduled one-on-one meeting with each Team Member at least once a month
- Meet as a DK Tempe team once a week
- Approve PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports
Other Responsibilities (Non-Essential):
- Assist in the development of and manage the annual budget for Discovery Kids
- Related duties or special projects as assigned

Education and/or experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or area commensurate
- 3 years of experience in ministry, children’s programming, childcare industry, or relevant role
- 3 years of experience in team environment
This position requires in-office work and does not qualify for a remote arrangement.
Church Membership is required for most paid positions.
