About The Role
The Food Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, assisting in the development and implementation of the Food Safety and Quality systems and managing the facility quality lab. This position will actively be engaged in measuring, monitoring, and verifying critical product/process variables, records, and reports using appropriate software and other tools to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal requirements.
Knowledge of AAFCO expectations Minimum of 3 years of leadership of food safety and quality systems including managing people/teams. Experience working with enzymes in manufacturing environment. Ability to travel

The Food Safety & Quality Manager is responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to, assisting in the development and implementation of the Food Safety and Quality systems and managing the facility quality lab. - Manages food safety system, responsible for training and administering compliance of system.
- Food Safety Plan development & implementation: Develop Food Safety plans for all products. Implement, reassess, and maintain for regulatory compliance.
- Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity of GFSI Standards.
- Communicate to relevant personnel information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the GFSI Systems
- Responsible for overseeing the laboratory (testing, microbiological, chemistry, etc.)
- Directly supervise technicians, schedule hourly shifts, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Lab method development and optimization
- Lab reporting and analysis
- Collaborate closely with the manufacturing team and across functions to implement effective continuous improvement methodologies.
- Work with training to ensure compliance of all required material within facility.
- Writes and reviews SOPs and SSOPs / determines validation and verification / controls all
- Develop programs to assure compliance with FDA regulations.
- Participate in regulatory plant audits assist in plant inspections with FDA/USDA & follow up to ensure correction of deficiencies.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
- Five to seven years of relevant experience in a food manufacturing environment
- HACCP, GFSI, and or PCQI certified.
- Food quality lab testing experience.
- Proficient in using computers and software needed in the performance of the job.
- Strong organizational skills (ability to manage multiple projects)
- Ability to adapt and manage effectively in a fast-paced changing environment.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with plant operations and maintenance teams.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow and complete tasks with a high level of organization, responsibility, and efficiency.
- Understanding of quality management tools, continuous improvement tools, and project management techniques and processes.
- Experience and working knowledge of regulatory agencies and food safety requirement
