A Product Quality Engineer (PQE) in the Connectivity/IID (In-Vehicle Infotainment and Diagnostics) sector plays a critical role on ensuring high-quality standards in automotive electronic systems. This role combines technical expertise with a proactive, data-driven approach to quality, ensuring that automotive interiors meet both performance and aesthetic demands.

Qualifications
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $130,000 - $140,000

What you’ll do

A Product Quality Engineer (PQE) in the Connectivity/IID (In-Vehicle Infotainment and Diagnostics) sector plays a critical role on ensuring high-quality standards in automotive electronic systems. This role combines technical expertise with a proactive, data-driven approach to quality, ensuring that automotive interiors meet both performance and aesthetic demands.
- Quality Assurance and Testing:
- Monitor product quality processes for connectivity, infotainment, and diagnostics systems in vehicles which produce concerns impacting the manufacturing facility.
- Conduct system-level and end-to-end testing, including functional, performance, and integration testing.
- Analyze and resolve issues identified during testing phases and throughout the product life cycle.
- Data Analysis and Troubleshooting:
- Analyze in-field data (e.g., diagnostic trouble codes) to identify recurring issues or trends in system performance which impact the manufacturing facility.
- Troubleshoot and investigate root causes of failures in connectivity or IID components.
- Process Improvement:
- Define and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system quality and reliability.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, and manufacturing) to drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Supplier Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Suppliers Quality to ensure component quality standards are met.
- Work with Supplier Quality to manage quality requirements for parts related to connectivity and diagnostics.
- Customer Feedback and Reporting:
- Address customer complaints related to IID systems and work on resolution plans.
- Provide detailed reports and metrics on quality performance, including KPIs.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure adherence to industry standards such as ISO 26262 (functional safety), ASPICE, or other automotive quality standards.
- Manage homologation and regulatory compliance for in-vehicle connectivity systems.
- System Knowledge:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in automotive connectivity (e.g., 5G, V2X communication) and diagnostics tools.
- Understand and implement Over-the-Air (OTA) updates and vehicle telematics.
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Blythewood, South Carolina.
- The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Qualifications
- Education:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related field.
- Certifications like CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Shainin Red X Green/Black Belt are a plus.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years in product quality engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Familiarity with automotive connectivity systems, infotainment platforms, and onboard diagnostics.
- Technical Knowledge:
- CAN, LIN, Ethernet, or Flex Ray communication protocols.
- Diagnostic tools (e.g., OBD-II scanners) and standards (UDS, ISO 14229).
- Infotainment systems and software quality tools (JIRA, DOORS).
- Soft Skills:
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Quality Tools: Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for RCA and CAPA.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Project Management: Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring compliance with tight specifications and standards.
