JOB DESCRIPTION: Floor Technician

Scout Sport Floors is a leading sports flooring company located in Birmingham, AL that specializes in the design, maintenance, and installation of hardwood gymnasium floors throughout the Southeast. We routinely perform services ranging from refinishing and sanding, floor design and painting, and repairs and installation. We partner with the top schools and athletic facilities around the Southeast by focusing on providing the highest quality work and world class customer service.

Scout Sport Floors is looking for a Floor Technician based in its Birmingham, AL office to support its field operations functions. The position requires strong work ethic, technical abilities, and customer service and communication skills, as well as the following criteria:

Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

• Support Foreman / Crew Leader on all projects
• Screen, sand, and tack hardwood floors
• Use of various equipment including buffers, sanders, edger, saws, and other hand tools
• Apply paints, stains, sealers, and finishes to hardwood floors
• Layout court gamelines, logos, and other markings and artwork
• Assist with floor repairs and installations

Qualifications/Experience/Skills needed for this position:

• Flooring, carpentry, or construction experience a plus but not required
• Drug test and background check required
• Some travel, primarily throughout the Southeastern US, may be required
• Must adhere to all safety policies at all times
• Good customer service and communications skills
• High attention to quality and detail
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Team oriented, self-motivated, and proactive

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physical activities associated with flooring
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift/move up to 100 pounds
• Must be able to work in all types of weather and in all kinds of work environments
• Must be able to withstand for long periods of time noise, fumes, airborne particles, etc. associated with floor refinishing and other related activities

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
