KNXV, the E.W. Scripps ABC station in Phoenix, Arizona, seeks a journalist who prioritizes impactful storytelling and community service for our Evening Anchor / Multimedia Journalist role. We're looking for someone who sees the anchor desk as a platform to uplift our community through meaningful journalism, not just a destination. The ideal candidate is a newsroom leader who will embody our commitment to in-depth reporting - from field work to final broadcast - and share our vision that quality journalism strengthens neighborhoods and communities. This role requires someone who forges deep connections within our diverse Valley communities and delivers enterprising journalism alongside their anchor duties.
WHAT YOU WILL DO :
- Anchor early afternoon broadcasts Monday-Friday. Fill-in as needed.
- Generate compelling story ideas tailored for multiple platforms.
- Report live on location from various news events.
- Organize material, and write stories according to prescribed editorial story style, and formats for each of our platforms- including digital.
- Research stories through personal contacts, the internet and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
- Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production and Engineering on daily broadcast, special projects and online coverage.
- Make community appearances and participate in station-led initiatives.
- Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
- Meet all production deadlines.
