What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Development Associate position at Scripps Health?
Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospital campuses, 31 outpatient centers, clinics, emergency rooms, urgent care sites, along with our 17,000 employees, more than 3,000 affiliated physicians and 2,000 volunteers.
The Corporate Development Associate will provide a key role within the Corporate Development team, which is broadly responsible for the evaluation of various strategic initiatives and specifically responsible for executing mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and divestitures. Participates in planning for the department, the execution of the strategic work plan and contributes to its success through effective communication and execution. Ensures effective use of system resources. Provides functional expertise essential to perform duties. Participates in standards of practice and process improvement activities. Ensures policy and procedures are followed by self and by staff.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: Bachelor's degree or paralegal plus 3 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate or business development, mergers and acquisitions, or as a paralegal. Preference to candidates with some experience in leadership. Experience leading and facilitating work teams, with superior facilitation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analysis. Lean training and/or experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. Knowledge of present and potential health care services and operations including exposure to various transactional and developmental business models. Knowledge of strategic planning, business planning, patient care financing, and health care administration within an integrated health care system. Experience in a range of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, collaborative relationships and similar arrangements with knowledge in one or more of the following: valuation, transaction structuring and negotiation. Analytical thinker with ability to focus on details, synthesize broad amount of information into actionable information to be used by senior management and executives. Able to quickly spot issues and develop a recommended approach. Strong quantitative skills. Must have excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal. Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to streamline management, executive decision-making and work with multiple priorities. Ability to efficiently support multiple processes. Team player with ability to build broad relationships internally and externally. Strong finance and/or accounting skills with knowledge of key current and emerging issues impacting strategic transactions. Experience in designing and leading initiatives with proven performance in meeting productivity, financial, and client satisfaction goals on deadline.
