What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at SDK Apartments?
SDK Apartments is a growing real estate investment, development and property management group with an established portfolio of residential communities and commercial properties in various states. We are seeking a capable and experienced Staff Accountant, preferably with direct real estate experience, who can hit the ground running and perform day-to-day accounting activities and reporting functions for our entire real estate property portfolio. Duties and responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze property-level financial information for preparation of financial statements and accounting reports, including:
- Review monthly revenue and expenses, and prepare trend analysis reports
- Monitor and review accounts receivables and accounts payables, and perform analysis of A/R collections and delinquencies analysis and A/P aging
- Reconcile monthly bank account balances
- Prepare journal entries and perform general ledger review for monthly close process
- Calculate property-level management fees
- Calculate annual CAM charge recoveries and prepare year-end reconciliations, including true-up calculations
- Maintain and prepare schedules for assets, liabilities, and depreciation
- Perform monthly close procedures and assemble monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flows) and management reporting packages.
- Assist with preparing property-level annual operating budgets in collaboration with property managers.
- Review and monitor property-level performance and perform variance analysis.
- Liaise with external auditors and financing counterparties, responding to requests for information in support of audits and tax preparation.
- Maintain complete adherence to internal processes, protocols and controls
- Performs special projects and other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required); degree in finance, or related field (may be acceptable depending on experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting (required)
- Multi-location or multi-entity accounting experience (preferred)
- Team player with a can-do attitude and willingness to help where needed
- Proactive, self-motivated able to work independently
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Detailed-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- General proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills
- Experience with RealPage suite or similar property management accounting software (preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
