What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller - non-profit position at SDL Search Partners?
Our client, a well-established, dynamic, non-profit organization is looking for a Controller to lead accounting & finance operations. The Controller will be a strategic "right-hand" to the CFO and lead the build-out of best practices, and improving efficiencies throughout the department.
Overseeing all GL accounting, financial reporting, operational accounting (AP, AR, payroll), grants accounting & budgeting and forecasting, the Controller will also manage a small team.
Ideal candidate has extensive non-profit accounting / finance experience; prior experience in public accounting & a CPA is a plus. The CFO is looking for a measured and capable leader, someone who loves a hands-on role, can build out internal controls, mentor and develop their team, and play a critical role in helping the organization deliver on its mission.
The team works on a hybrid schedule in Boston; the role has a generous compensation package and fantastic overall benefits.
Qualifications:
- BS, Accounting / Finance or related
- CPA preferred
- experience in public accounting a plus
- 7 - 15 years of accounting experience
- Experience in a dynamic non-profit
- strong month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting & forecasting experience
- Strong Grants accounting experience / ability to oversee grants accounting
- Excellent business partnering skills - able to build strong relationships internally and externally
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting & analytical skills
- Strong system skills
- Prior people management / mentoring abilities
