Senior Accounting and Finance Associate
Our client is a nonprofit based in Boston looking to bring on a Senior Accounting and Finance Associate to their high-performing team.
This role will report to the Controller and manage a mix of responsibilities across GL accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, billing, and even some HR/benefits administration as well. Ideal candidates will have several years of accounting/finance experience from a nonprofit or family office environment, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
The team is hybrid, doing 2 days per week in the Boston office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and reconcile financial reports, including expenses, cash balances, and other key areas.
- Assist with budget preparation and provide support for financial planning and reporting.
- Manage the preparation and submission of required tax filings, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Oversee and review work completed by external accounting partners to ensure accuracy.
- Process invoices and payments, ensuring proper workflows and organizational standards are met.
- Maintain and update records related to financial policies, contracts, and organizational memberships.
- Support employee onboarding, offboarding, and other HR-related activities in collaboration with consultants.
- Coordinate compliance filings and reporting related to benefits and payroll.
- Provide administrative assistance for financial and operational tasks, including scheduling and documentation.
- Work with internal and external teams on special projects to support the organization's operations.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience, with nonprofit or family office experience a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Bill.com.
- Exposure to HR/benefits administration is nice to have, but can be trained
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail, discretion in handling sensitive information, and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
