Position Summary:
The Top Rigger and Fiberglass Hardtop Installer is a highly skilled technician responsible for the expert installation and rigging of fiberglass hardtops and related systems on newly manufactured boats. This includes precision mounting, integration of lighting, wiring, antennas, outriggers, and electronics, ensuring top-tier craftsmanship and structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install fiberglass hardtops on various boat models, aligning and securing them according to engineering specifications and structural requirements
- Drill, seal, and bolt hardtops to T-towers, consoles, or deck structures using proper fasteners and bonding agents
- Rig and install accessories such as spreader lights, VHF antennas, radar domes, speakers, wiring harnesses, and electronic components
- Route and secure electrical, hydraulic, and control lines through hardtop conduits and support structures
- Seal and waterproof all mounting points to prevent corrosion and water intrusion
- Verify alignment, fit, and finish of hardtop installations and adjust as needed
- Collaborate with electrical, rigging, and metal fabrication teams for seamless integration
- Read and interpret blueprints, installation guides, and wiring diagrams
- Conduct quality control inspections and resolve any installation-related issues on the spot
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces while adhering to safety protocols and production schedules
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training in marine fabrication or installation is a plus
- Experience in boat assembly, rigging, or marine structural installation, with specific expertise in hardtops or T-top structures
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with fiberglass, stainless steel hardware, sealants, and marine adhesives
- Comfortable using power tools (drills, sanders, grinders), torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments
- Familiarity with marine electrical systems, NMEA wiring standards, and component rigging
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and rigging diagrams
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and quality craftsmanship
- Able to lift heavy components, work at heights, and handle physically demanding tasks safely
- Boat manufacturing facility and outdoor rigging areas
- Exposure to adhesives, power tools, noise, and marine hardware
- Frequent standing, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs
- May require overtime and flexibility during high production periods
