This is a seasonal position, but long-term year round salaried position is available for the right applicant.
Looking for someone to start around March 15. Shop located in Bethlehem, greenhouse in Winsted and jobsites throughout the region, but mostly in Washington Depot area.
Job duties include the oversight and supervision of a crew of 4-5 gardeners of varying experience levels as they plant and maintain mixed garden beds and containers in high-end residential settings, including
- Daily securing and tracking of company vehicle as well as tools and materials used in the field
- Employee and client coordination and scheduling
- Aesthetic quality control of detailed garden maintenance
- Reporting of the use of bulk materials and other information for bookkeeping purposes
- Working together with owner to execute company related tasks in an efficient manner
- Taking daily initiative to maintain work flow for the benefit of clients and employees alike
NOTE - does not include any lawn care, mowing, leaf clean-up or machine work.
Applicant must have their own reliable vehicle, and smart phone. Job requires travel between sites in the Litchfield area. Requires working in all kinds of weather.
Requirements:
- Extensive plant identification skills
- Working knowledge of perennials, shrubs, evergreens and trees
- Highly motivated, self-driven individual who is detail oriented with a keen eye
- Ability to constructively give direction to employees, prioritize and multi-task
- Enjoys working outdoors and independently
- Energetic, motivated and hardworking with a passion for beautiful gardens
- Punctual, dependable and willing to work in all kinds of weather
- Professional demeanor
- Able to lift 50lbs
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, pest management, and proper use of hand and power tools: leaf blower, hedge clippers, pole pruner etc...
- Degree in Horticulture or related field a plus, but not required
- Clean driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle
- Functioning smart phone
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
