Position Summary:
Full-time Group Life Counselor position available for Sea Mar's Adult Treatment Center in Tacoma, WA. This position is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, providing direct services to patients in a residential setting. Direct services may include a combinationor all of the following: group care, intake procedures, evaluation, and individual and group counseling.

Position Summary:
Full-time Group Life Counselor position available for Sea Mar's Adult Treatment Center in Tacoma, WA. This position is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, providing direct services to patients in a residential setting. Direct services may include a combinationor all of the following: group care, intake procedures, evaluation, and individual and group counseling.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies and procedures of theagency, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations, especially WAC 388-877requirements
- Supports the Chemical Dependency Professional with the patient's individualized treatment plan as designed and implemented by the treatment team
- Provides individual and group counseling for persons in the process of discovering and dealing with emotional, social and behavioral problems with attentions on building self- esteem, problem solving skills, healthy communication habits and tools needed to develop a positive peer culture
- Able to identify and categorize each patient’s age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients
- Completes daily logging, Extraordinary Incident Reports (EIR's), medication logging, etc. on time and accurately
- The GLC IV is responsible for the coordination of services on their shift. They ensure thatservices are being performed according to policy and schedule. When emergency situationarise, they contact the on-call manager and oversee the implementation of necessarycorrective actions
- Must be enrolled in a Associate’s degree program that meets the Washington State and Departmentof Health requirements for SUDPTs including Psychology, Sociology, and Human Services, Addictionsor related field. Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Must possess a current First Aid Certificate
