Job Summary:
The Retail Golf Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the golf shop, including sales, inventory management, customer service, and merchandising. This position ensures that the golf shop operates efficiently, meets sales goals, and provides an exceptional shopping experience for members, guests, and golfers.
Qualification Summary:
Experience and Education:
Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a golf or sports-related setting.
- Strong knowledge of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with retail POS systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
PGA or LPGA membership or familiarity with the golf industry.
Experience with tournament coordination or golf event management.
Knowledge of golf course operations.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong customer service skills and the ability to address member needs professionally and promptly.
Travel:
Less than 5% travel requirement. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation and the ability to run off-property errands with minimal notice.
Physical: Frequent sitting, standing, and moving about the facilities. Handling objects, products and equipment. Using keyboards and other office computer equipment. Occasionally push, pull and lift items weighing up to 30 pounds. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must observe details at close range.
Other: Must speak English fluently. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Mathematical skills include basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages and variances. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are often used. Ability to effectively multi-task.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage daily operations of the golf shop, including opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure the shop is well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
• Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
• Develop and execute merchandising strategies to maximize sales.
• Order, receive, and monitor inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing overstock.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Provide exceptional customer service to members and guests, including product recommendations and golf-specific knowledge.
• Address and resolve customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.
• Drive sales through promotions, special events, social media, and partnerships with golf brands.
• Analyze sales data and trends to identify opportunities for growth.
• Any and all other duties as assigned
