Position Overview:
Sea Pro Boat Company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Boat Shipping Coordinator to oversee the transportation and delivery of boats from our production facility. This role involves coordinating all aspects of boat shipping, including scheduling, documentation, and communication with carriers, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of our products to dealers, customers, boat shows or other events. Shipments may be made using our in-house shipper or the dealer's designated shipping company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shipping Coordination:
- Schedule and manage the outbound shipment of boats from Sea Pro Manufacturing to various destinations (dealers, customers, etc.).
- Work with freight carriers and the dealer’s shipping company to determine the best shipping methods and rates for various types and sizes of boats.
- Ensure that boats are securely loaded and properly prepared for shipment, including packaging and crating when necessary.
- Coordinate shipments through our in-house shipper or work with dealers to arrange for third-party transport.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare all required shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms (if applicable), and shipping labels.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations, including export/import laws and industry standards for transporting boats.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking numbers and delivery status.
- Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact between Sea Pro Manufacturing, freight carriers, dealers, and recipients of shipments.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams (production, inventory, and sales) to ensure shipping schedules align with production timelines.
- Provide updates to customers and dealers regarding shipment status, delays, or changes to delivery schedules.
- Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Address and resolve any shipping-related issues such as delays, damages, or incorrect shipments.
- Work with carriers and customers to find timely and cost-effective solutions to any problems that arise during shipping.
- Inventory Management and Tracking:
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure that shipments are made in a timely manner to meet customer and dealer demand and to alleviate congestion at the facility in the finished boat storage area.
- Use shipping software to track boats, ensuring they are delivered according to schedule and maintaining accurate shipping logs.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in logistics, shipping coordination, or transportation is preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping boats or large equipment is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and shipping software/systems.
- Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; a college degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, if necessary, to assist with shipping-related tasks.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments at once.
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Work Environment:
- This position is based at Sea Pro Manufacturing’s shipping facility in Whitmire, SC, with occasional fieldwork or site visits as necessary.
- Some travel may be required for site inspections or to meet with shipping partners.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $22.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
