Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development (75%)
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to increase market share and optimize profit margins.
- Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, including refiners and biofuel marketers.
- Market Expansion: Identify and secure new customers through networking, market research, and industry connections.
- Travel: Travel up to 40% to customer sites to build relationships and identify opportunities with refiners, fuel wholesalers, government agencies, and sustainability organizations. Typically, at least one day a week will be spent at the Madera office.
- Market Intelligence: Stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge.
- Profit Center Management: Oversee the financial performance of site operations and ensure the Madera site operates in an efficient and profitable manner.
- Integration: Manage the integration of new business opportunities and relationships, including potential additions such as ethanol production and grain businesses.
- Project Management: Work on select business development projects aimed at value growth or operational excellence.
- Operations Leadership: Oversee storage, blending, and distribution operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and production regulations.
- Inventory Optimization: Work with plant operations management to optimize inventory levels and develop supply chain scheduling to meet market demand, ensuring ratability and minimum costs.
- Cost Reduction: Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor plant emissions and environmental impact to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Personnel Management: Hire, train, and develop the plant operations team, including conducting performance reviews and team development.
- Training and Standards: Establish key performance standards and implement effective training methods.
- Capital Improvements: Oversee budgeting, capital improvements, and long-term operational planning.
- Performance Monitoring: Set, monitor, and report on sales performance and operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in science or business.
- 7 years of terminal site management experience required.
- 7 years of client facing business development experience.
- 10 years of experience in petroleum-based or renewable fuels
- Thorough understanding of the California fuels and distillate market
- Ability to read and write clear, accurate and concise reports and business correspondence using standard Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, regulators, consultants, and the public.
