SUMMARY : The IT Supervisor is responsible for supervising specific components (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic, Network, and Security) for the following floor equipment-All scaling equipment : Metal detectors and X-rays, all label printing equipment (Bell-Mark, Bartender, Carlisle, Bizerba, VBS, Code Pack) all PLC equipment and instrumentation systems to ensure safe production standards are met in a timely manner. Will be responsible for conducting managerial / supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, leading, directing and assigning work, training employees, appraising performance, rewarding, and counseling employees when necessary to maintain a high standard of employee relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : This list is not intended to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee and perform troubleshooting and repairs of instrumentation systems, scales, and controls.
- Reviewing and approving timesheets for all direct reports, accurately and timely.
- Manage and prepare the IT team's schedule for the week to make sure all work shifts are covered appropriately.
- Responsible for adhering to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), federal food safety regulations, and all company policies.
- Plan and organize work shifts for the timely completion of all IT activities.
- Organize and facilitate job training activities for all IT employees.
- Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments.
- Coordinate all work processes with other internal departments of the company.
- Comply with all plant policies and the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) rules while conducting maintenance processes.
- Initiate and maintain an effective and efficient preventative maintenance program capable of maintaining regular operations. Develop a competent workforce by utilizing firsthand training methods in the work area focusing on timely repair of all production machinery and equipment in the plant.
- Maintains systems and equipment by completing preventative maintenance schedules, records; rebuild, restore, repair, and replace faulty or inoperative parts and components to assure work can be accomplished on time.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures that comply with applicable laws.
- Responsible for maintaining operational standards by providing information to strategic planning, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
- Maintain an effective safety awareness program including regular departmental safety meetings. Provide written feedback on injuries and accidents in a timely fashion and continue efforts for improvement.
- Supervise the inspection of equipment installation work performed by contractors and other personnel for workmanship and compliance.
- Responsibilities do include training employees, planning, directing, and assigning work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees when necessary to maintain a high standard of employee relations.
- Perform as a back-up for the IT Manager as needed.
- Any other duties assigned by IT Manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must have some Allen Bradley and other PLC troubleshooting experience, Basic Electrical Knowledge, and State Scale Licensing experience and knowledge of the following :
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred; or two or more years related experience in electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation and Control systems or maintenance management of a processing plant.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS : Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to draft routine reports and business correspondence. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and / or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees using plant control systems. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus. Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with USDA, production, and management personnel.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to understand basic statistics for process control.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and / or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; or feel / hold objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak; hear taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Individuals must be able to effectively work in a normal production environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT : While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to work in cold / hot and / or humid conditions. Will frequently work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold / hot temperature, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The work environment includes climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE : The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required. May be required to work some weekends and be part of an on-call rotation.
