Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Operations, this position performs the duties of managing the Engineering Department comprised of Maintenance, Housekeeping and Laundry Operations. The Director of Engineering will also lead or take an active role in all capital projects and is responsible for identifying these projects, with input from the GM/COO, department heads, and related committees and presenting these identified projects with project descriptions and quotes for approval.

Skills: Excellent communication, managerial, organizational and leadership skills required. strong mechanical aptitude and understanding required. Broad knowledge of engineering terminology and concepts is necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Engineering Department consists of maintenance staff, mechanical personnel, and parts and inventory management, housekeeping and laundry staff. The Director will schedule and coordinate with outside contractors when necessary.
Equipment to be used: Various maintenance tools, vehicles and equipment, as well as office equipment.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard maintenance equipment. Requires ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Requires bending, stooping, and reaching. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Requires ability to lift and move heavy objects of 50 pounds or more. Requires ability to function professionally in an environment that is both physically and mentally challenging.

Essential Job Functions:
- Lead by example and promote Seabrook Core Values, Characteristics, Employee Constitution and Decision Making. Adhere to standards set by the Seabrook Island Club.
- Manages maintenance of all infrastructure consisting but not limited to roof, windows, siding, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, plumbing, commercial kitchens, appliances, pools, lighting, plumbing, painting, seawall, and grounds. Responsible for managing all maintenance concerns in a timely fashion.
- Hires, trains and develops staff.
- Communicates effectively with GM/COO and department heads regarding future needs and current project and maintenance status.
- Analyzes department costs.
- Oversees all general club maintenance.
- Conducts safety training sessions and educates staff regarding proper safety procedures specifically concerning any equipment or chemical use.
- Analyzes and monitors department costs such as payroll, supplies, etc.
- Ensures maintenance calls are prioritized and follow an organized system.
- Works effectively with committees.
- Schedule and supervise approved projects and report to GM/COO and Operations Committee status on projects.
- Plans, organizes, prioritizes and directs maintenance department to meet company objectives.
- Provides direction on design and development of activities to improve, modify or create new processes, procedures and policies.
- Develop and manage contractual relationships as they pertain to maintenance and infrastructure management.
- Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and general appearance of the Engineering Department.
- Completes any other projects or tasks delegated by the GM/COO and Director of Operations.
- Maintains the policy of this company to conduct operations in a manner that will prevent injuries to people and damage to property and equipment and that will comply with all applicable regulations for safety and health.
