About Us: We are a leading marine upholstery and canvas company dedicated to providing high-quality custom upholstery and canvas solutions for boat owners and enthusiasts. With a strong reputation for excellence and a commitment to customer satisfaction, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sewer/Seamstress to join our team. The ideal candidate must be experienced in all aspects of sewing, including making items from scratch, copying existing designs, and accurately marking and cutting materials. Experience with canvas, vinyl, cushions, upholstery, and boat canvas is a strong plus.
Responsibilities:
- Create new products from scratch using provided patterns or design specifications.
- Replicate existing designs by analyzing and copying fabric items.
- Accurately mark and cut materials according to patterns and measurements.
- Operate industrial and domestic sewing machines to sew various materials, including canvas, vinyl, and upholstery fabrics.
- Assemble, stitch, and finish projects with precision and durability.
- Work with heavy-duty materials, ensuring clean, professional-quality stitching.
- Assist in pattern making, adjustments, and modifications as needed.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance and make necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a sewer, seamstress, or tailor.
- Strong knowledge of fabric types and how they respond to cutting and sewing techniques.
- Ability to work with canvas, vinyl, upholstery, and boat canvas is a plus.
- Experience using industrial sewing machines and heavy-duty sewing equipment.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow patterns and specifications accurately.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to work with thick materials.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous work in upholstery, marine canvas, or furniture sewing.
- Experience with pattern making and modifications.
- Knowledge of reinforcement techniques for heavy-duty fabrics.
