Overview

The company is seeking a Custodian. This position will be responsible for a variety of janitorial, custodial, and/or security tasks to maintain a clean and safe building, grounds, and vehicles.
Reporting Relationship
The position will report to the Facilities Manager.
Objectives and Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Gather and empty trash upstairs.
- Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Wash, dry, fold, and finish linens and smocks according to specifications.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
- Run Tenant Machine weekly.
- Clean and restore building interiors by using commercial cleaning equipment when necessary.
- Drive vehicle as necessary to run errands and pick up and deliver supplies.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Stock and clean coffee machine daily.Stock supplies in breakroom daily.Notify Facility Manager concerning the need for major repairs or additions to cottage and building operating systems. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
- May be “on call” duty, nights and weekends during the absence of the Facilities Manager.
- Empty trash cans in breakrooms when maintenance technician is not on site.
- Perform any other work- related duties that may be assigned.

- Be knowledgeable of standard methods, practices, tools and equipment to clean laundry, buildings and furniture.
- Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing, stripping and waxing compounds.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of building and property security procedures.
- Ability to prioritize the work of others.
- Requires valid driver’s license.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.

Previous Experience
- High school Diploma or GED
- Experience in cleaning in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Work well with deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- 3 years of previous cleaning experience.
- Flexibility to perform various tasks, as well as, quick learning aptitude.
