Seaman Corporation is seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager to join our Commercial team! This position will report to the Senior Strategic Commercial Director in a remote capacity.

Position Summary

In this role, the Strategic Business Development Manager - Airports will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to drive the specification and adoption of Seaman Corporation products within the aviation industry. This includes influencing key decision- makers within the 300 domestic international airports and 5,200 FixedBase Operator (FBO) airports. The primary focus will be on engaging with airport facility managers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and procurement leaders to position Seaman Corporation solutions as the preferred choice for aviation infrastructure applications.

Candidates for this role must exhibit a strong background in navigating lengthy and complex sales cycles, from start to finish. This individual must be comfortable discovering, engaging, and presenting solutions to high-level decision makers at a VP or C-suite level. The ability to collaborate with resources within Seaman Corporation and across customer and partner ecosystems is crucial to this role.

This person should have a strong understanding of specification processes, building materials, and the commercial construction ecosystem, with experience navigating complex sales cycles involving airport owners, general contractors, architects, engineering firms and supplier partners. They must be able to establish immediate credibility through existing industry relationships and demonstrate expertise in aligning Seaman Corporation’s value proposition. Experience in driving specification adoption and influencing major construction decisions within the Aviation industry is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and implement a strategic sales and channel management plan focused on the aviation sector, including national and regional airports and FBOs.
  • Establish and grow relationships with key decision-makers, including airport facility managers, general contractors, architects, engineers, and procurement officials.
  • Position Seaman Corporation as the basis of design for aviation projects, influencing specifications and procurement decisions.
  • Drive engagement with major aviation engineering and design firms to ensure Seaman Corporation products are included in project specifications.
  • Identify and secure opportunities to influence industry standards and regulations that impact material selection and specifications.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of aviation-related projects, ensuring alignment with company growth and revenue goals.
  • Conduct targeted outreach and educational initiatives, including AIA and Continuing Education (CE) presentations, to enhance awareness of Seaman Corporation’s value proposition.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track project activity, manage pipeline progress, forecast sales outcomes, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Strategic Business Development Managers (SBDMs), Core Sales Teams, and Regional Managers, to ensure seamless execution of business development strategies.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations and negotiate contracts with key decision-makers at the executive and C-suite levels.
  • Represent Seaman Corporation at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to expand brand visibility and industry influence.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities within the aviation sector.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10 years of experience in business development, strategic sales, or channel management within the aviation, construction, or building materials industries.
  • Proven success in driving specification adoption and managing relationships with general contractors, architects, and engineering firms.
  • Experience delivering AIA presentations and Continuing Education (CE) courses to educate and influence stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the aviation industry’s procurement and construction processes, including key regulatory and compliance considerations.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, particularly Salesforce or similar platforms.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to engage with airport facilities, industry stakeholders, and key decision-makers.
