Position Overview:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all Seametrics purchasing, production planning, sourcing and inventory planning activities for our manufacturing organization. The position is focused on managing and optimizing purchasing activities and processes, optimizing inventory levels and balancing supply chain risks and costs. The position also covers managing our production planner responsible for order confirmations, material availability reviews and capacity planning. This is a hands-on role that covers critical suppliers as well as the oversight and management of two other purchasing associates and one production planner.
The Purchasing Manager role is empowered to lead strategic sourcing initiatives, work with other functional managers on establishing new strategic sources, make supply decisions, and generally improve our overall purchasing functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all sourcing activities including managing supply from all domestic and international sources, identifying, and developing new suppliers for value engineering activities and New Product Development.
- Formulates a strategic sourcing plan that identifies new/suitable suppliers, optimizing cost structures and proactively ensures continuity of supply based on growth and other business objectives.
- Analyze existing purchasing processes for performance including the company’s use of ERP system, system parameters and ISO processes and documents, make and implement recommendations for improvement.
- Analyze existing production planning processes for performance including the company’s use of ERP system, system parameters and ISO processes and documents, make and implement recommendations for improvement.
- Handle contract negotiations with suppliers
- Achieves YOY Inventory Turn Objectives
- Manage supplier performance scorecards and ensure executive support for the supply base management plan
- Serve as the backup for production planning in the event of an absence or paid-time off.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- APICS Certifications a plus
- 3 Years in a Sr. Buying Position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
