The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive management, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise-level data center systems and related network infrastructures. This role involves working with a wide range of hardware, virtualization platforms, operating systems, networking equipment, security appliances, and infrastructure services. The Engineer will ensure the reliability, scalability, security, and efficiency of the organization's technology environment, while also participating in planning, design, troubleshooting, and project implementation across multiple locations and domains.
Key Responsibilities :
- Server Hardware and Data Center Management :
Assemble, install, and upgrade enterprise-class rack-mounted HPE servers and blade chassis (e.g., DL560-G9, BL460c-G10).
Perform hardware component replacements, including processor upgrades, and maintain optimal physical configuration of rack-mounted systems.Plan, specify, and oversee the deployment of HVAC, UPS systems, and power distribution for server racks in the data center.2. Virtualization and Operating Systems :
Install and configure Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022) and VMware ESXi environments, including role configuration for Hyper-V clusters and ESXi / vCenter clusters.Configure System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) forhyper-converged Hyper-V clusters and manage virtual machines for optimal resource allocation.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization, including Hyper-V and VMware cluster performance and stability.3. Network and Connectivity :
Configure Virtual Connect networking for HPE blade chassis (C3000 and C7000).Install, configure, and manage HPE and Cisco switches, SonicWall firewalls, and on-premises mail gateway / security appliances (e.g., Barracuda) for secure and reliable data center operations.Implement and manage IPv4 and IPv6 networking, including static IP assignments and prioritization.4. Storage and Data Management :
Deploy and configure iSCSI SAN storage solutions for use with data center servers.Set up Windows file servers and migrate user data from legacy systems to modernized server platforms.Implement backup, recovery, and failover strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.5. Directory and Domain Services :
Install, configure, and maintain Active Directory domain controllers, create new AD domains, and manage DNS / DHCP services.Migrate Active Directory, DHCP, and DNS roles from legacy servers to new infrastructure while decommissioning old systems.Manage Group Policy Objects (GPO) and configure print servers, ensuring policy-driven distribution of printers and other resources.6. Security and Compliance :
Generate CSR requests, install SSL certificates for IIS web services, and ensure secure access to hosted applications.Configure and manage Windows Server firewalls, security appliances, and monitoring tools to maintain a secure infrastructure.Ensure compliance with corporate security policies, industry standards, and best practices.7. Application and Desktop Services :
Install and configure Remote Desktop Services (RDS), TSPlus Remote Access, and Office 365 applications for shared or remote deployments.Set up virtual machine Windows desktops and servers for hosting business-critical applications such as QuickBooks.Integrate and manage N-able (N-Central) for remote management and monitoring of customer environments.8. Troubleshooting and Support :
Diagnose and repair complex server, network, and storage issues using tools like DCDiag, DISM, SFC, and CHKDSK.Collaborate with vendors and use AI-based tools (e.g., CoPilot) to research, identify, and implement solutions for server deployment challenges.Provide technical guidance and escalation support to IT support teams, ensuring timely resolution of infrastructure issues and minimum downtime.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.5 years of experience in managing enterprise-level data center and IT infrastructures.In-depth knowledge of Windows Server, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and related virtualization technologies.Experience with HPE blade chassis, HPE / Cisco switches, SonicWall firewalls, and SAN / iSCSI storage solutions.Entra / Azure and Microsoft Office 365 conversions from on-premise to cloud and supporting cloud and hybrid-cloud instancesStrong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, and related Windows infrastructure services.Familiarity with security best practices, SSL certificate management, and firewall configurations.Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation tools is a plus.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Relevant industry certifications (e.g., MCSA / MCSE, VCP, CCNA, Client) are highly desirable.MSP Experience preferredPersonal Attributes :
