Provide support to therapists and assistants
Medical administrative assistants provide support to therapists in treating the patients. They usually perform the following tasks:
- Coordinate with medical care team members to implement a treatment plan
- Prepare therapy and other medical equipment during appointments
- Greet and receive patients when they arrive for appointments
- Help the therapy staff with patient interaction
- Guide and escort patients to treatment rooms and rehabilitation gyms
- Manage mobility and transportation of patients for off-site appointments
- Assist therapists in performing complicated treatments
- Collaborate with special interest groups on behalf of therapists, specialists and counselors
Perform administrative tasks
Medical administrative assistants perform the following administrative and clerical tasks to ensure a smooth rehabilitation process:
- Communicate with patients through phone and emails to schedule appointments
- Help patients fill out intake forms when they come for treatment
- Interact with patients to gather health information and prepare medical history
- Create and update a patient's progress report to help track and analyze their rehabilitation process
- Complete paperwork and formalities related to health insurance and billing
- Prepare documents detailing out the exercise plan for patients, which they can take home to track and maintain their progress
- Maintain medical charts and keep them handy for reference
- Process payments for medical treatment and procedures
Maintain medical equipment
medical administrative assistants look after the safety and sanitization aspects by performing the following duties:
- Sterilize therapeutic equipment before and after the treatment
- Replenish rehab materials and maintain inventory
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitization of the treatment area and facilities
- Safely dispose of hazardous material and other waste
- Ensure safety standards in the premises to prevent the risk of hazards
Perform patient care tasks
Medical administrative assistants also work with patients to help them maintain health and regain independence. They perform the following patient care tasks:
- Encourage patients to perform their daily activities on their own with the goal of gaining independence as per the nursing care plan
- Support and train patients to adapt to disability or trauma after an injury
- Educate patients and answer to their patient inquiries
- Assess a patient's condition and perform simple diagnostic tests
- Perform blood withdrawals
- Measure and record the vital signs of patients
- Help patients perform stretches and exercises safely and comfortably
- Perform CPR, first aid and other emergency procedures
- Perform therapy and administer medications under the supervision of therapists

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
