SEASPAR is currently seeking an energetic, creative, and flexible candidate for our Recreation Coordinator position, which is responsible for planning, leading, and evaluating assigned recreation and leisure programs; and serving as the agency's children and adolescent participant liaison.
Duties
Instruct recreation and leisure programs as developed and sponsored by SEASPAR, with a range of twelve-sixteen hours of direct leadership per week.
Develop programs and special events for children and adolescents which include developing and maintaining a wide range of recreation and leisure programs which must meet the needs and interests of SEASPAR's residents in addition to coordinating the use of community facilities to meet program needs.
Work in tandem with the Program Manager to provide recreation opportunities to the special education classrooms in the local schools through the agencies' SOAR program.
Plan and implement all aspects of summer day camp program, scheduling, training, and supervising camp staff.
Serve as participant liaison to welcome new children and adolescent participants, develop participant profiles, mediate problems related to participants.
Work alongside SEASPAR's Behavior Oversight Committee to observe, develop and maintain participant support plans and accommodations.
Develop, organize, and plan weekly activities, special events, day camp, and programs for people with disabilities.
In collaboration with the Program Development Team, assist in the future planning for seasonal program offerings to meet the needs of SEASPAR participants.
Actively analyze the need for and coordinate the purchase of program supplies and equipment on a regular basis.
Monitor the agencies' first aid supplies, keep accurate records of supply use, purchase supplies as needed.
Develop and manage department budgets, revenue, and expenditures. Assist in the formulation and management of the recreation department budget.
Network with parents and teachers of students in early childhood programs to share opportunities available at SEASPAR.
Help guide participants in the transition from the youth program area into the adult program area.
Develop program goals and objectives, maintain attendance, and write evaluation reports for assigned programs.
Oversight of all aspects of all Sensory Rooms including purchase and maintenance of equipment, scheduling, and training staff.
Actively support SEASPAR's risk management program.
Prepare and present reports relative to job duties.
Assist with preparation and distribution of SEASPAR brochures and promotional materials.
Represent SEASPAR at various public events to support outreach initiative as needed.
Obtain and maintain training and certification in first aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention Training, and others related to duties.
Gain certification as an instructor for an industry-specific topic such as first aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention Training, or other related topics.
Develop skills and abilities necessary to carry out assigned duties by attendance at meetings, workshops, in-service training opportunities, webinars, conferences, and other development opportunities.
Monitor local, state, and national trends as they relate to SEASPAR functions.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience
The Recreation Coordinator should be graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, special education, or related field. The Recreation Coordinator must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP), or hold the highest level of certification in their field or attain certification within one year.
Condition of Employment
The Recreation Coordinator must be a licensed driver, provide and insure his/her own car, and use his/her own car for SEASPAR business, and must pass the pre-placement physical and background check.
Location and Schedule
The Recreation Coordinator primarily works at the main SEASPAR office, located at 4500 Belmont Road in Downers Grove. Frequent travel to program sites is required. Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, but evening and weekend commitments should be expected. Must have regular and predictable on-site attendance.
Compensation
In exchange for your time and talent, this position offers competitive compensation with a salary range of $44,000-$54,000 based on experience and qualifications, in addition to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund pension plan, medical and dependent flexible spending account, paid time off (including holiday, vacation, personal, and sick), and tuition reimbursement.
