EDUCATION COORDINATOR
OVERVIEW: Coordinate and assist all School & Educator programs including supporting administration, communications, marketing, event facilitation and outreach. Work collaboratively with the Education & Public Engagement Division to provide excellent and equitable programming for diverse audiences.

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt REPORTS TO: Manager of School and Educator Programs
COMPENSATION: $18.69-$22.07 hourly pay range DOE; 40 hours per week
BENEFITS: Full time employees are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance/LTD/AD&D. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 403b plan. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees all processes associated with scheduling school groups at all three SAM locations and offsite. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Booking school tours and educator passes.
- Processing payments and bus subsidy paperwork.
- Scheduling docents and teaching artists.
- Maintaining and distributing weekly tour schedules to SAM staff, docents, and teaching artists.
- Tracking tour statistics across multiple categories for the purpose of institutional reporting.
- Maintaining and developing new group tour policies and procedures, working across multiple platforms and systems.
- Trouble-shooting challenges with group visits with education department, security, facilities, and admissions staff.
- Greets guided and self-guided school tour groups and orients them to the museum.
- Acts as primary contact person and customer service representative for school tours, supporting and coordinating communications with educators, docents, volunteers, staff members, and other stakeholders.
- Works closely with the Assistant Manager for Gallery Learning to oversee logistics for SAM's docent program at all three museum locations, including but not limited to: communications, logistics, and other general administrative support as needed.
- With supervisor and Assistant Manager for Gallery Learning, facilitates annual docent touring assignment process and create systems for tracking and communicating docents' assignments.
- With supervisor and Assistant Manager for School Programs and Partnerships, coordinate learning supports on partner school tours with possible dual language or access needs.
- Collaborates with members of the School & Educator Programs team to produce resources, facilitate programming, and provide support.
- Supports educational marketing and communications efforts, including social media and other marketing materials as assigned.
- Performs select administrative support to the Education & Public Division, including tracking credit card purchases.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- BA/BS or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- 2 years relevant, professional work experience, preferably in a not-for-profit, education, and/or administrative setting. Previous professional experience in a setting connected to school-aged children and/or K-12 educators preferred.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and to project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person, and over the phone.
- Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy using MS Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and other software programs; ability to utilize various systems and databases, such as SharePoint, Tessitura, Google Drive, and/or museum databases.
- Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Must have excellent time management, problem solving, and analytic skills and be able to work independently and in a team setting. Demonstrated ability to routinely take a proactive approach to problem resolution.
- Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work with members, the public, and co-workers professionally and tactfully, to adhere to Museum policies, and to support management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure: Work areas are primarily inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light background noise. Work is occasionally performed at other indoor and outdoor sites.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Stationary Work: Approximately 75% of time is spent stationary while working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 25%) is spent moving around the work area. Occasional extended periods of standing may be required when assisting at Museum events.
Communication: Clear and effective communication with volunteers, donors, members, the public, and co-workers is necessary.
Moving: The ability to move up to twenty pounds on occasion is necessary for moving files, equipment, and supplies. Must be able to regularly position self to access files.
Office Work: Ability to effectively and regularly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and printers, and ability to inspect, prepare and use paperwork, files, equipment, and supplies is necessary.
