Title: Postdoctoral Fellow - Tumor Immunology and Dendritic Cell Research

Description: We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Carbone Lab and contribute to novel research in tumor immunology, with a particular focus on dendritic cells (DCs) and their role in shaping immune responses in cancer. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact research projects, including the use of innovative tools like the STAMP model (Skin Tumor Array by Micro-poration) (PMID: 37258670), which enables non-invasive, high-throughput monitoring of immune cell recruitment and interactions in tumors. The fellow will have the chance to contribute to translational research aimed at developing novel immunotherapies.

This position provides significant opportunities for professional development, offering the ability to lead independent projects while collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other lab members. As part of our growing team, the postdoctoral fellow will play a key role in advancing the lab's research agenda and building a strong research culture.

Job Responsibilities
70% Experimental Research:

  • Independently design, plan, and execute experiments focused on tumor immunology, particularly the role of DCs and other immune cells in the tumor microenvironment.
  • Utilize advanced experimental techniques, including flow cytometry, live imaging, and in vivo tumor models, to study immune cell recruitment, interaction, and function.
  • Contribute to the development of new experimental models and technologies relevant to the lab’s focus on immune regulation and cancer immunotherapy.
  • Meticulously document experiments including procedures and experimental records. Process, analyze, and interpret experimental data.

15% Scientific Communication:

  • Actively participate in lab meetings, provide scientific insights, and contribute to group project design and development.
  • Prepare and contribute to research publications, grants, reports, and presentations.
  • Present research findings at conferences and seminars to share lab achievements and gather feedback.

15% Mentorship & Lab Operations:

  • Mentor and support junior lab members, providing guidance on experimental techniques and scientific methodology.
  • Collaborate with fellow researchers in the lab and across departments, fostering a highly interactive and productive research environment.
  • Contribute to building a positive and collaborative lab culture, promoting open communication and shared success.
  • Assist in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the lab, including overseeing supply management, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining key lab equipment.
  • Collaborate with lab management in organizing and maintaining the animal colony for in vivo studies.

Experimental Methods

  • Flow cytometry for immune profiling
  • In vivo tumor models and animal handling (including tumor implantation, injections, etc)
  • Advanced microscopy for live imaging of tumor-immune interactions
  • Tissue harvest and processing
  • Cell culture, including primary immune cells
  • Cell engineering, including plasmid design and CRISPR techniques
