Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of the Title III Cooperative Grant, the Student Leader - Funding Navigation will be responsible for participating in funding-related events and outreach. In addition, the Student Leader - Funding Navigation will provide their student perspective and feedback on projects carried out by the Funding Navigation team.
What is the Funding Navigation team?
The Funding Navigation team consists of staff members from Central, North, and South Seattle Colleges dedicated to better assisting students with navigating their funding options. To achieve this goal, the Funding Navigation team will develop tools to help students create a personalized funding plan and engage students, faculty and staff in funding-related events and outreach. The Student Leader - Funding Navigation will help support these activities and make a direct impact on other students lives, ultimately increasing equity in student outcomes. Specific activities may include the following below:
Essential Functions:
Participate in the Funding Access Steering Committee by sharing thoughtful ideas and offering feedback on committee or workgroup projects
Assist with planning, promoting, and hosting funding-related student events such as FAFSA completion workshops
Assist with developing program materials and tools such as videos, print materials, and web-based tools
Participate and assist in student engagement activities such as new student orientation, classroom visits, presentations, and workshops
Qualifications:
Ability to work independently, be a self-starter, pay attention to details, multitask, and complete assignments in a timely manner
Demonstrate a proactive work attitude and work ethic including punctuality
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate with peers, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders
Passion for sharing your experience with funding access to help improve student services
Demonstrate strong leadership skills
Demonstrate familiarity with commonly used technology or social media
Maintain a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA
Physical Requirements:
Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation. OR
Ability to perform range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs.
