Opportunity Description

North Seattle College is looking to hire a Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty in Electronics.

This is a nine-month, full-time faculty position with a base salary of $85,365 during the regular academic year. Workload balancing and additional premiums qualify this position for an additional 20% on top of this base salary.

Position Summary

North Seattle College is seeking a dynamic and dedicated full-time tenure-track faculty member for its Electronics Engineering Technology Department, with a starting date as early as Fall 2025. North's Electronics Department prepares students for employment in a variety of industries, including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare, facilities, logistics, communications, and utilities. Extensive hands-on learning opportunities in multiple well-outfitted labs is a key feature of all Electronics Department educational pathways at North. Students complete foundational electronics coursework, including applied math, DC, AC, digital, solid state, analog, applied physics, IT, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Students may also complete additional coursework to target specific competencies or specialized fields, including aviation electronics, biomedical equipment, fiber optics, hydraulics and pneumatics, motor controls and drives, metrology, robotics, soldering and more. Each full-time faculty member in the Electronics Department teaches a subset of these classes, the Department also utilizes part-time faculty members working in industry.

This position reports to the Dean of Workforce Instruction and is governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between The American Federation of Teachers (Seattle Community Colleges Local 1789) and Seattle Colleges District VI.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Preparing and teaching both basic and advanced electronics courses using appropriate teaching strategies that promote effective learning for all students; these classes may be scheduled to meet in-person, online, or in a hybrid format, with classes scheduled during the day or evening.
  • Serve as a mentor or connection to the college for students to feel fully supported by and engaged in the North Seattle College community, and engage in efforts to improve student confidence, persistence, and success.
  • Collaborate with Electronics Department faculty and staff to re-envision electronics curriculum as needed. This could include the proposal and development of new course offerings and/or educational pathways or revision of existing curricula.
  • Engage in continuous growth and improvement of teaching through evaluations, assessments, data, and both individual and collaborative reflection.
  • Apply teaching philosophy and practices that embody Seattle Colleges¿ values of equity, diversity, and inclusion with an emphasis on eliminating equity gaps in student success and completion, especially among underserved and underrepresented populations of students.
  • Build internal and external relationships in support of electronics related activities. This includes support for recruitment and convening of an Advisory Committee of industry professionals, and leading other departmental, college, or district-wide projects.
  • Meet all professional obligations as described in the faculty union agreement.

Required Qualifications

What you bring as a candidate:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent training in Electronics Technology or related field
  • Experience teaching or training
  • Evidence of collaborative work within an organization
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and the ability to work effectively with populations of diverse backgrounds and life experiences as outlined in your attached diversity statement
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using Office software when appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of work experience in the field of electronics
  • Experience with avionics, advanced manufacturing, healthcare technology management/biomedical equipment technology, mechatronics, industrial power, or IT-controlled electronics
  • Relevant industry recognized certifications and credentials
  • Successful teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience developing curriculum and program development in a variety of formats, including online, hybrid and face-to-face
  • Experience assessing course work or training and student/participant achievement
  • Experience working in a cooperative environment and collaborating with industry organizations and/or employers¿
