North Seattle College is looking to hire two Student Retention Specialists in Seattle Promise.
Salary Range for this position is $58,632 to $80,968 annually (depending on experience). The anticipated salary for the position is $69,800 annually.

Position Summary

Funded by the City of Seattle's Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise Levy, the program is hiring a Retention Specialist at North Seattle College.
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Retention at North Seattle College and working closely with the Seattle Promise Executive Director the Retention Specialist will be responsible for providing enrollment and retention assistance to Seattle Promise students. This position provides direct advising services to students and specializes in the development, coordination, and facilitation of Seattle Promise retention-related programming including but not limited to Readiness Academy and Summer Bridge programming, mandatory quarterly check-ins, satisfactory academic progress navigation, and other activities related to encouraging student persistence. The Retention Specialist will assist with program development, data collection and analysis, and implementing strategies associated with retaining students leading to successful completion of a degree or credential. This position will be expected to work occasionally in the evening as program needs demand
This position is funded by the City of Seattle's Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise Levy (FEPP) which has the goal of transforming the lives of Seattle's children, youth, and families by leading with race and social justice by providing Seattle residents access to educational opportunities from preschool through post-secondary.
This position is typically scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The schedule may vary depending on program needs. May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed. This position works on campus Monday through Thursday, with the option to telecommute on Friday.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT Pro Staff.

What You Will Be Working On
- Collaborate with staff across the campus and district to lead retention initiatives to enhance student persistence and completion in Seattle Promise.
- Track students, collect, analyze, and report on data related to student enrollment, milestone achievement and retention.
- Assist students with the Seattle Promise enrollment process, including college assessment and placement, program selection, and quarterly registration.
- Provide programming and interventions aimed at promoting student retention and completion throughout the student experience such as planning and facilitating quarterly workshops and planning Summer Bridge events.
- Assess student progress toward Seattle Promise milestone achievement, degree or certificate requirements, and make appropriate referrals for additional student support as needed.
- Assist Seattle Promise students with understanding and meeting the requirements for maintaining scholarship eligibility.
- Serve as a point of contact for enrolled Seattle Promise students and college staff for questions about the Seattle Promise program.
- Represent the Seattle Colleges and Seattle Promise at various external meetings.
- Participate in the development of program priorities as a member of the Seattle Promise team, including but not limited to developing and maintaining programming to build campus and community involvement with Seattle Promise.
- Assist students in the development of educational, career, and life goals.
- Assist students with course selection and the development of individualized educational goals.
- Advise prospective, new, and current students concerning college admissions requirements, assessment/placement options, college transfer and professional/technical programs, degree requirements and transfer process.
- Conduct classroom presentations concerning college transitions.
- Assist students with completing applications for graduation.
- Participate in outreach/recruitment activities as needed.
- This position may supervise part-time hourly staff, work/study students, interns, and/or volunteers

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.
- Two years experience or equivalent advising college and/or high school students in an education or social services setting.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
- Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.
- Proven highly motivated, self-starter, flexible; ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity and proficiency with various technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, student database systems and student success technologies.
