Status : Exempt
Primary Objective : The Workday Operations and Program Manager reports to the Sr. Director, Infrastructure and Cyber Security Technology in the Technology Solutions department and is responsible for leading the strategy, management and technical operations of Workday and associated systems. Responsible for ensuring the design of cost-effective, flexible, and reliable systems to support business needs, and for managing the seamless flow of information through the organization. This role will be frequently assigned to cross-functional and cross-departmental projects with highly complex, cross-systems impact, while acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and the technical delivery teams. The position oversees a team of Business Systems Analysts to ensure the effective utilization, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Workday platform to support the organization’s human resources, payroll, finance and other business functions. The role provides process and governance to facilitate collaboration with technical roles in the functional areas, primarily Finance and People & Culture (HR). The role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership abilities and program management skills to drive efficiency and innovation within our Workday ecosystem.
This role is a local role and requires at least 3 days a week on site in the office at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
Essential Functions :
Leadership, Vision, and Strategy :
- Develop and implement the Workday technology strategy and vision in support of the organization’s priorities, ensuring alignment with other key Technology and functional strategies, especially administrative systems, infrastructure, security, reporting & analytics.
- Define and execute roadmaps to improve utilization of and the investment in the Workday ecosystem to increase business efficiencies.
- Drive the development of data security plans, Collaborate closely with the Cyber Security team and functional department technology roles to assure appropriate levels of security for the Workday ecosystem and associated data.
- Provide expert consultation regarding the challenges, complexities, and solutions related to Workday operations.
- Develop a participatory decision-making structure supporting goals and desired outcomes, work with staff to develop implementation plans, lead change management, and develop processes for monitoring and reporting outcomes.
- Evolve governance models, change management, architectures, infrastructure and technologies in anticipation of future needs.
- Manage and develop the Business Systems Analysts to support Workday and the associated systems and integrations.
- Provide visibility to the work being done as well as any backlog and roadmap to the organization. Develop, implement, and provide visibility to measures of the progress and effective use of the Workday environment and associated applications.
- Ensure information technology alignment with Company Mission, Vision and Core Values. Provide strategic and tactical input on overall technology planning, including projects.
Partner, Customer, and Vendor Relationships :
Develop and cultivate critical partnership and connections with organization business leaders across functional departments and leverage these relationships to align initiatives to address institutional challenges and opportunities.Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including in Finance, People & Culture (HR) and Technology Solutions to understand their needs, priorities and challenges related to the Workday system and provide strategic guidance and support.Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, providing updates, insights and recommendations to drive decision-making and alignment.Provide strong vendor management that builds mutually beneficial partnerships and optimizes investment in Workday and associated systems and influences product roadmaps.Collaborate with Legal and Technology Solutions in license and contract management activities to ensure alignment with priorities, including service levels, performance, security and privacy.Operational Excellence :
Lead teams in planning and executing Workday related projects, such as system upgrades, periodic upgrade releases, module implementations and process improvements, developing clear lines of delegation and authority in support of efficient services and dependable operations.Oversee optimization of day-to-day operations of the Workday system, including tenant and configuration management, security and access controls.Participate in day-to-day operations such as configuration, development, analysis, and process development as needed.Provide root cause analysis and proactive activities to detect and prevent future problems / incidents.Involved in all phases of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), vendor management and escalation support once systems are in production.Provide technical guidance and lead close collaboration with the business units in charge of Workday activities and end user support.Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and manage resources, budgets, and risks to ensure successful outcomes.Ensure services operate according to administrative policies related to governance, security, privacy, compliance, and business continuity.Drive robust incident and change management practices.Anticipate emerging trends and technologies and stay abreast of product roadmaps.Education and Experience :
Required
Minimum 5 years experience supporting a Workday ERP implementation, which includes Finance and HR functions, in a lead role is required.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Management preferred. Equivalent, relevant work or experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management.5-7 years of relevant experience as an analyst in information technology or related area required.Certification in Business Analysis or Project Management preferred. Knowledge / experience with ERP’s (Workday, Dynamics AX, and Reporting tools (Power BI / Tableau) and other business applications, preferred.Must possess expertise in MS Office and Business Process Analysis / Management tools.Previous experience learning and owning new applications / business systems.Project or program management experience required.Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s) :
Possess an understanding of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in waterfall and agile methodologies, as well as a basic understanding of risk management related to systems developmentExcellent analytical ability, natural curiosity, and problem-solving aptitude.Experience learning and owning new applications / business systems.Experience with Workday HCM and Payroll required. The anticipated starting pay for this role is between $125,000-$140,000. All perks are subject to eligibility requirements and availability and may be modified or amended from time to time.
