Position Summary: This position requires strategic level thinking, planning, development and management of our agricultural market and products strategy. TM works directly with the agricultural distribution sales channel, OEMs and irrigation regulators at state and local levels, providing product training, feedback, and after-sales support while forging long-term, trustworthy relationships with new and existing customers. Responsible for identifying new business opportunities for Seametrics products, including regulatory metering by districts and states, OEM’s and additional channel partners, and closing on mutually profitable opportunities.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related agricultural field, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ experience in the agricultural market
  • Estimated travel requirement – 50%
  • Technical background and aptitude is desirable (engineering degree not required)
  • Knowledge of MS Office products
  • Must be able to communicate and provide sales and activity reports at assigned intervals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Perform analytical preparation and monitoring of potential business growth opportunities
  • Ability to develop and execute business plans

Qualifications Desired:

  • Territory Management, Technical Aptitude, Customer service background and sales experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and drive agricultural business opportunities.
  • Grow distributor and channel sales of agricultural products, as the primary point of contact for assigned territory. Includes making joint customer sales calls with distributors to maintain and grow the business.
  • Call on regulatory agencies, corporate farms, irrigation districts and key agricultural universities to promote Seametrics products.
  • Communicate business forecasts to the factory for production planning.
  • Develop and support third party channel partner and OEM relationships to increase agriculture sales.
  • Develop sales plans for the assigned territory and set strategic goals for growing the market.
  • Participate in company planning meetings and provide reports, market/customer information and make recommendations to ensure market growth.
  • Conduct yearly planning with representatives to agree upon a common plan for sales targets, aftermarket support and business development activities that support a comprehensive five-year plan.
  • Communicate discount levels to distributors and OEMs.
  • Seek and recruit new distributors, as needed, to ensure full coverage of the market.
  • Work with regulatory agencies to gain approval of new products in addition to seeking out grants.
  • Drive and manage resolutions between distributors/OEMs and factory.
  • Manage the introduction and training of new products for channel partners.
  • Collect market intelligence to include competition, technology, industry trends and customer VOC.
  • Assist marketing by providing market requirement input (product, price, packaging, etc.)
  • Participate in sales/development activities including customer visits, telephone contact, webinars, e-mail correspondence, customer training and product demonstrations and attending and staffing trade shows.

  • Working knowledge of irrigation distributors and their respective markets.
  • Understanding of regional water resource management.
  • Able to develop and maintain long-term customer business relationships.
  • Must be self-starter, team player, possess a positive attitude and excel at customer service.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Physical demand: Will require employees to visit rural farms, view flow meter installations and help trouble shoot products on location in agricultural fields. Travel by airplane and automobile. Occasionally lifting and/or moving 50lb packages. Generally good health is required to carry out position duties.
  • Work environment: Normal computer work, office equipment and outdoor sales calls on industry clients.
