Marketing & communications coordinator
Location: SEATTLE, WA
FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT
Position Status: REGULAR, FULL TIME
Position Location: 40% REMOTE/60% ONSITE
Salary Range: $50,000 - $54,000
Reports to: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
POSITION SUMMARY
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Participates as a member of the email team, responsible for writing and deploying many marketing and company communications using both the email system and Tessitura.
- Coordinates department finances, enters purchase orders, and processes invoices.
- Supports marketing and stewardship activities at events at McCaw Hall, Opera Center and other locations to cultivate audience retention.
- Works closely with Director of Marketing and Associate Director of Marketing on marketing initiatives including coordinating printing, mailing and receiving deliverables as well as distribution of print materials around Seattle core and campus.
- Provides general administrative support to marketing team members including but not limited to editing and proofreading marketing and communications pieces, schedule coordination, maintaining current production schedules, and assisting the communications team with artist bios.
- Assists in the creation and coordination of social media content as assigned.
- Distributes and delivers physical marketing collateral across the greater Seattle area.
- Staffs one of the Marketing department’s front-of-house positions at performances and events.
Position requirements
- A four-year degree in marketing, communications, or arts, or other closely related field, or other equivalent experience.
- 1 year of experience in marketing/communications or a related position in a similar organization
- Knowledge of and experience with the performing arts, particularly opera.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Comfort and enthusiasm interacting with the public and patrons in person and by email.
- Ability to produce clear and succinct written communications, including some copywriting.
- Excellent collaboration and cooperation skills, including strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage and coordinate many tasks across varying projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to and experience in learning new skills and tools.
technical Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word and Excel
- Basic HTML, photo and video editing experience
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to:
- lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Sit or stand comfortably to perform work and take meetings
- Delivering marketing collateral across the greater Seattle area, either by own means or by Seattle Opera provided transportation.
- Talk and hear in person, over the phone, and over virtual conferencing technology (i.e. Zoom, Teams)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, medium field vision, and an accurate perception of color in print and on digital screens.
At McCaw Hall and other performance venues this individual will interact with Seattle Opera and Seattle Center staff, as well as the general public.
Position DETAILS
- This position requires frequent errands throughout the greater Seattle area.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
