What We Need
Seattle Pacific University is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Analyst to join our Finance and Accounting team. This position will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial reporting. Additionally, the Accounting Analyst will contribute to the successful implementation and optimization of the Workday financial management system, enhancing our accounting processes and reporting capabilities.
What You Do
Financial Reporting & General Ledger
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain accuracy in the general ledger by properly accounting for transactions.
- Post journal entries and support monthly close processes.
- Prepare and review financial reports for department heads and leadership.
Account Reconciliations
- Conduct monthly reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Document reconciliations for compliance and internal controls.
Workday Implementation & Optimization
- Participate in the implementation, testing, and rollout of Workday financial management.
- Configure and optimize Workday to improve processes and reporting.
- Train staff and provide ongoing support for Workday users.
Audit & Compliance Support
- Prepare financial documents and reports for external audits.
- Ensure adherence to university policies and accounting standards.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Monitor financial transactions for compliance with policies and internal controls.
- Identify and recommend process improvements in accounting practices.
Collaboration & Communication
- Provide financial data and insights to support decision-making.
- Communicate financial policies and compliance requirements to departments.
Job Requirements:

Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- CPA or equivalent certification (preferred but not required).
- Experience:
- 2-4 years of accounting or finance experience.
- Knowledge of accounting software/ERP systems (Workday and Banner preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced).
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to prepare clear financial reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education or nonprofit accounting.

Additional Information:
Full time, exempt role. Position will remain open until filled.
Location: Seattle Pacific University, Seattle, WA
Schedule: After a period of training, the Accounting Analyst may be able to work a hybrid schedule. Must reside in the State of Washington.
Pay range: $65,500 - $80,100, DOE
- This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
Salary : $65,500 - $80,100
