About The Position
Seattle Repertory Theatre is seeking a dedicated and proactive Food and Beverage Lead to support our Lobby and Events Manager in ensuring exceptional service and seamless operations during shows and events. This role is primarily onsite and key to the success of our food, beverage, and merchandise programs, with a focus on maintaining inventory, supporting staff, and enhancing the patron experience. The Food and Beverage Lead will assist with tracking stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring product availability, while also providing hands-on support for food, beverage, and merchandise sales. They will help count and reconcile nightly sales, assist with staff training/scheduling, and ensure smooth operations during shows and events. The ideal candidate will have experience in food, beverage, or retail service, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to outstanding customer service. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of Seattle Repertory Theatre while supporting the success of our lobby programs.

Typical Duties Include
Food, Beverage, and Merchandise Support:
- Assist the Lobby and Events Manager with inventory management, including tracking stock levels, placing/receiving orders, and ensuring product availability for food, beverage, and merchandise sales.
- Provide onsite hands-on support for food, beverage, and merchandise sales during shows and events to ensure efficient and high-quality patron service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, storage, and service areas, ensuring all items are properly labeled and rotated for freshness.
- Monitor product quality and presentation, making recommendations for improvements, as needed.
- Assist with restocking bar and concession areas before, during, and after performances to maintain seamless operations.
- Track and manage product expiration dates and ordering calendar, ensuring minimal waste and timely product usage.
- Support staff in the counting and reconciliation of nightly sales/tips to maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist with merchandise display setup and organization to optimize sales opportunities.
- Report profit and loss (P&L) data via Square to track financial performance and sales trends.
- Collaborate with the Lobby and Events Manager to identify new food, beverage, and merchandise items that align with Seattle Rep's audience interests.
- Demonstrate confidence in managing elevated patron concerns/complaints, especially when serving as the sole supervisor during shows or events, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining a positive experience for staff and guests.
- Assist in setting up and breaking down food, beverage, and merchandise stations before and after events.
- Ensure all service areas are clean, well-stocked, reset, and operating efficiently during events.
- Collaborate with event hosts/coordinators to ensure food and beverage offerings align with event themes or special requests.
- Connect and follow-up with caterers/vendors to confirm orders, deliveries, and service expectations, when needed.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with alcohol service laws and safety protocols during events.
- Provide support for special event functions, including patron receptions, donor events, lobby space rentals, meetings, and other community gatherings.
- Assist in supervising and conflict resolution for Bartenders, Concessions, and Event Staff.
- Lead and motivate lobby and events teams to ensure high levels of engagement and exceptional customer service.
- Train new hires and existing staff in up-to-date compliance practices and hospitality standards.
- Assist with scheduling for all lobby and event staff to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operations.
- Serve as the interim Lobby & Events Manager when they are unavailable.

- Proven experience in food, beverage, or retail service, with experience in product procurement and inventory management preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of inspiring and motivating teams to achieve shared goals.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
- Current WA MAST Alcohol Server Permit.
- WA Food Handlers Permit.
- Microsoft Office literacy and accuracy, with experience using CRM software preferred.
- Basic accounting skills and experience handling cash and financial reporting.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including regular evening and weekend hours.
- Genuine interest in working with the public and demonstrated personal and/or professional commitment to engaging with historically under-invited communities.
- Strong interest in working at an arts and culture non-profit.
- Experience working in a performing arts, cultural institution, or event venue setting.
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Square, Toast, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of sustainable practices in food, beverage, and merchandise programs.
- Experience in supporting special events, donor receptions, or VIP experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff to improve efficiency and enhance customer service.
- Associate degree or higher in Hospitality, Event Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
