Salary

$71.30 – $100.39 per hour (Salary: $148,304 to $208,811.20) payable bi-weekly. The salary scale for this position is between steps 0 and 19, depending on experience. Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Information Technology (IT) to lead and manage the organization's IT operations, with a focus on Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This leadership role will oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of EHR systems, ensure data security, and drive technology initiatives to improve patient care and organizational efficiency, all while adhering to healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare IT, EHR management, and a solid understanding of industry-specific regulations and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the organization's overall goals, focusing on improving patient care, operational efficiency, and technological innovation.
  • Lead and manage the IT department, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management of staff.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, healthcare IT trends, and regulatory changes to proactively adapt IT strategies and practices.
  • Foster collaboration between IT and clinical, administrative, and operational teams to ensure IT systems meet organizational needs.

 

2. EHR Management:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Ensure organization is ready for regular system upgrades, patches, and security updates, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations.
  • Lead efforts to optimize EHR usage, including process improvements and system enhancements.

 

3. Data Security and Privacy:

  • Ensure the security, confidentiality, and integrity of patient data and other sensitive information in compliance with industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Implement and maintain robust security protocols and policies to protect IT systems and data from breaches and cyber threats. Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and vulnerability scans to ensure ongoing compliance and mitigate potential risks.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure that the organization is prepared for audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring adherence to healthcare data protection standards.

 

4. System Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for all IT systems, including network hardware, routers, servers, group policies, Intune, O365, Azure 8x8, and Epic (EHR).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly and effectively to minimize operational downtime and service disruptions.
  • Monitor system performance regularly, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary upgrades or optimizations.

 

5. Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate IT-related matters clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including non-technical executives and clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as clinical, administrative, and financial teams, to ensure IT solutions align with organizational goals and needs.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement across the organization through regular feedback and partnership with key stakeholders.

 

6. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead the IT department by setting clear objectives, developing strategies, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  •  Mentor and guide IT staff, encouraging professional development and fostering a culture of innovation.
  • Promote teamwork and ensure effective collaboration within the IT department and across the organization.

 

7. Vendor and Budget Management:

  • Oversee IT vendor relationships, performance, and procurement to ensure cost-effective IT solutions.
  • Develop and manage annual technology budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated in line with organizational priorities.
  • Make informed decisions regarding IT investments, balancing quality, cost, and long-term sustainability.

 

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in IT management, with a focus on healthcare IT and EHR systems
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing healthcare IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and clinical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, CMS), data security, and privacy standards.
  • Experience in project management, particularly in the deployment of healthcare IT systems and digital transformation initiatives.

 

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional technical expertise in EHR systems, healthcare IT infrastructure, and data security practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities to resolve complex IT issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of IT project management methodologies and tools.

 

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, CISSP, or similar are a plus.
