Description : Salary Range :
The full salary range for this role is between $100,000 and $125,000, with $112,500 as the midpoint. To ensure equity with our internal staff, external hires can expect to join the organization between the minimum and midpoint of this range.
Position Overview :
The Major Gift Officer will support the fundraising efforts and growth of Seattle Symphony’s Stradivarius and Founders Circle giving programs. The successful candidate will provide excellent service and a tailored approach for donors and prospects giving $5,000-25,000 annually. They are an accomplished frontline fundraiser who is comfortable engaging with donors, board members and colleagues while being sensitive, tactful, confident and patient. This position carries a portfolio of approximately 150 donors, demanding strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a knowledge of best practices for frontline fundraising. It requires someone who thrives on challenges, works well under pressure, is a self-motivated team player, and has great enthusiasm for building relationships that result in philanthropic investment. The Major Gift Officer will be able to take direction, exercise good judgment, grasp standard office technologies easily, and be eager to learn unfamiliar content. An interest in classical music is highly desirable.
This position is eligible for a hybrid in-person / remote work arrangement. Regular donor events and team meetings require in-office work at least 3 days per week. Each employee will establish any schedule for remote work in accordance with company policy and supervisor approval. The Seattle Symphony will provide a laptop, but the employee is required to have their own access to a high-speed internet connection for any remote work.
Essential Job Functions :
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 150 donors in the Founders and Stradivarius Circle levels ($5,000 - $25,000 ) to secure annual support and grow the pipeline for major gifts
- Meet and exceed financial goals, approximately $850,000 annually
- Secure new donors and increase contributions from renewing donors to assist in achieving the overall objectives of the organization
- Assist colleagues in the implementation of discovery strategies to identify and cultivate prospective donors
- Help to grow the Benaroya Legacy Circle (the SSO’s planned giving program) through cultivating and soliciting planned and estate gifts as part of overall donor and prospect strategy
- Participate as necessary in the development of fundraising collateral and execution of donor events
- Proactive use of Tessitura (data management software)
