Seattle University Student Employment oversees all aspects of on-campus employment for students, as well as the on-campus and off-campus state and federal work-study programs. This position will support the operations of on-campus student hiring processes and ensure compliance with university policies, city, state, and federal labor laws, financial aid regulations, and best practices in student employment.

Salary Range: $58,500
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Seattle University Student Employment oversees all aspects of on-campus employment for students, as well as the on-campus and off-campus state and federal work-study programs. This position will support the operations of on-campus student hiring processes and ensure compliance with university policies, city, state, and federal labor laws, financial aid regulations, and best practices in student employment.
Essential Functions

- Oversee on-campus hiring and onboarding processes, including managing job descriptions and job postings, online hiring forms, and I-9 appointments, verifying student employment eligibility, and ensuring timely set up of employment records and time entry
- Provide direct support to on-campus employers/supervisors and students in the hiring process via email, phone, and in-person
- Conduct education and follow-up to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Work closely with Student Financial Services regarding student work-study awards, ensuring appropriate funding is being utilized and award earnings are updated reconciled each month
- Assist in the development of programming and resources to educate and inform on-campus employers/supervisors and student employees
- Stays abreast of policies and regulations related to student employment and best practices in student employment, career development, student affairs, and human resources. Regularly evaluates program and makes changes as needed for compliance, effectiveness/efficiency, and to meet needs to campus stakeholders.
- Maintain, updates, and documents all student employment related content for accuracy across mediums (website, print, mass email communication/announcements, etc)
- Staff, train, and manage team of student employees who support hiring and onboarding processes
- Provide support to students in seeking on-campus employment, market on-campus jobs to students, and conduct info sessions and workshops
- Support the office's calendar of events and programs, including On-Campus Jobs Fairs, National Student Employment Week events, and Shine Awards
- Collaborate and maintain relationships with campus partners including Payroll, Career Engagement, Student Financial Services, Office of Sponsored Projects, and others
- Provide support in the development of new initiatives for enhancing the Student Employment Experience as part of the university's Strategic Directions
- Provide leadership and representation for Student Employment in Director's absence
- Participate in university-wide and/or divisional committees as assigned
- Maintain data, and assist with reporting and data projects as needed
- Participates in departmental meetings and activities
- Bachelor's degree and two years previous experience working in an educational environment, human resources, or a related field with responsibility for program coordination or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Ability to appropriately and effectively interpret, communicate, and apply policies using a high level of judgment and ethics
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with excellent listening, writing, and speaking skills
- Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment of constant change and variety
- Effective decision making and problem-solving skills
- Skills in project management and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and utilize judgment in prioritization
- Attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- All candidates must demonstrate experience and ability to work successfully with diverse populations and a desire to contribute to a team that is dedicated to anti-racist principles and promoting equity
- Three or more years of experience in higher education or related area with knowledge of navigating university systems and student needs
- Experience with human resources, student development, career development, and/or financial aid
- Knowledge of employment cycle (hiring, training and development, and federal, city, state employment laws)
- Previous experience and skills in the use of student data management, CRM, and/or HRIS systems
